That's just one example as Andromeda is simply inferior in other respects, and I still haven't finished it, mostly because I dropped it for the vastly superior Persona 5 and have been occupied by other great titles since.

If all those diverse species could fit within the memory constraints of games for the PS3/360, shouldn't the PS4/XB1 be able to handle more? I guess superior hardware can't make up for lack of creativity and passion from the dev team.

Meanwhile at least several races from the original trilogy were cut from Andromeda, most of whom had much more creative designs. Yes, I admit to foolishly jumping on the hype train.įor example, I don't mind the Angara in spite of them being a tad too derivative of existing alien races, but why are they the only new race found in the Andromeda Galaxy? There's a lot of missed potential there. As it stands I don't think it's the worst, but it is a colossal disappointment. It's a pity corporate greed killed it as I think it could have been amazing. I love the original Mass Effect Trilogy, and a follow-up on more powerful hardware should not have been any less than stellar. They should have done evwrything they could to return to form release the most epic ME ever with Andromeda, but they squandered the chance. The end of ME3 did a lot to hurt to franchise, but most people were willing to give the series another chance because of how good it was before. Then the game released the way it did and a large part of the fanbase, who were already expecting problems, got their confirmation and decided not to buy it. It wasn't until the reports of all the horrible development issues started coming out and people started realizing that we knew literally nothing about the game just 2 months before launch that people started recognizing what a disappointment it was going to be. The hype for a new ME game was huge when they announced that one was coming. If they had gone in a different direction and NOT released a game full of bugs with a boring story and characters then it would have done fine. Mass Effect didn't start dying after ME3.
